From last month: Jupiter and Saturn are picking up steam, separating from Pluto and soon to leave Capricorn at the Winter Solstice, hand in hand. Officially, Jupiter enters Aquarius on December 19 and Saturn on December 17. The kaleidoscope of life is continually changing. These two planets have contrasting energies and tend to fight each other. One planet will dominate over the other. Saturn being the traditional ruler of Aquarius (as well as Capricorn) will probably have more influence. Jupiter is in fall in Capricorn (as opposed to exaltation, in Cancer) so he has not been very powerful there. The Jupiter energy will work better in Aquarius (next month, after the Winter Solstice) and change is in the wind. Controlled expansion and controlled progress are what we can hope for after the Winter Solstice.
The Winter Solstice represents the closing of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. In pagan cultures it has been considered the New Year, the symbolic death and rebirth of the sun. The land is cold, without signs of life, the days are short, and the nights are long. Starvation or lack of food were once common and accepted as part of life, from January to April. Reflecting on our present-day abundance, it might be a healthy idea to follow the seasons, to fast or follow a more spartan diet, once the holiday celebrations are over. Now there is a thought!
To everything, turn, turn, turn, there is a season, turn, turn, turn, and a time to every purpose under heaven. -Pete Seeger, from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
There is more to consider. At New Year’s, Mars will move into the orb of a square with Jupiter and Uranus. In January, Mars will enter Taurus and conjunct Uranus. So, we will have Mars and Uranus square Jupiter and Saturn. I’ll talk about that in the next forecast.
Celestial Almanac: Sagittarius New Moon December 14. Cancer Full Moon December 30. Winter Solstice December 21. Mars is still bright in the southern sky. Venus is the morning star, rising low in the east just before dawn.
Read on for the December forecast. Have a nice holiday season, stay at home and stay healthy. Hopefully the new year will be much better than this one!
Mars on the move here is very good for Aries. Nothing is standing in your way, except that with Covid19, we are so limited in our movements. We can’t travel or go out to eat except on the sidewalk. While the Sun is in Sagittarius travel is certainly favored at this time. On paper this looks good. In the real world, well… just work with it. When Venus arrives in Sagittarius, romance, creativity, the arts and adventure are favored. Think good thoughts. The New Moon on December 14 may bring a positive change or new beginning.
Venus in Scorpio the first half of the month is good for romance and all kinds of partnerships. You may also be involved with finances, investments, inheritance and legal matters at this time. Nothing difficult, just matters that require your attention. With Jupiter and Saturn on the move, there may be changes or new developments in your career. Expansion, increased responsibility, fame or notoriety.
The Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius, and later Venus, will shine a light on all relationships, including marriage, engagement, business partnerships and agreements. Mercury improves communications. It is a favorable month for many things. The New Moon on December 14 will be good for making future plans or starting a project. Because of Jupiter and Saturn there will be more chances for travel in the next several months.
The Winter Solstice is an important and sensitive time for Cancers, reflecting on all partnerships and close friendships. You are more acutely aware of issues that need to be worked out. Your desires and hopes are stronger too. Even if you are not in a relationship, be kind, be giving and stay in touch. In spite of Covid19 and social distance, anything is possible. While Venus is still in Scorpio romance and happy times are favored.
The activity in Sagittarius is great for social activity, romance, children’s activities and holiday fun in general. This is a positive high energy period for Leos, with Mars still in Aries. Your creative juices are flowing. Sit loose in the saddle of fate. Mars in this place supports publishing and business ventures abroad. Strike while the iron is hot and get that great American novel of yours out there. It will be well received at this time.
Keep your eyes open for career opportunities. The Sagittarius planets highlight your home life. You will enjoy holiday decorating, baking and decorating more than usual. Invite people in, small groups of course. Because of Mars you are also sorting out finances with your partner or you may receive an inheritance. Venus trines Neptune on December 6-7 which may bring some romantic moments for you and your partner, and some creative inspiration.
Mars in Aries continues to make married life interesting. When Jupiter and Saturn move out of Capricorn, your home life should settle down. There is light at the end of the tunnel. At the Full Moon, you may complete a project, sign a contract, close on some property or otherwise wrap up a chapter in your life. You may downsize. Buying or selling property can be settled now. Starting a family could be on the horizon, and more involvement with children or grandchildren.
Venus in your sign continues to make life pleasant for you for the first half of the month. Venus trine Neptune on December 6 might bring a little romance or a creative spurt. Then Jupiter and Saturn move into Aquarius, so during the next several months there is change on the home front. There will be a lot of work to do, either with repairs or renovation. Jupiter indicates expansion. Family members come and go. You may buy a larger home or downsize.
The Sun and Mercury are here until the Solstice, and Venus arrives here December 15. You’re in the spotlight. Whether or not you are staying home, communications improve, and business, romance and friendships are favored. People are calling and there are more Zoom meetings than usual. With Mars still in Aries, children’s activities, sports, limited social get-togethers are possible at this time. You will enjoy the holidays. Babies may be born now.
Mercury arrives here on December 20 followed by the Sun, and the Winter Solstice on December 21. It is Capricorn’s turn to shine and be the center of attention. Traditionally you work hard, quietly, behind the scenes to achieve a goal. Hopefully after this year’s roller coaster ride you have made some progress. The pressure is off when Jupiter and Saturn leave. Pause to reflect and count your blessings. Things are much better than they seem. With Venus in Sagittarius, you may have a chance to get away for a relaxing weekend. Recharge your batteries.
At last, Jupiter moves into Aquarius December 19 and Saturn December 17. You may not notice anything right away but there is a change in the energies coming soon. Mars approaching the square to Jupiter and Saturn may give you a short fuse. Your patience will be put to the test. Keep busy with projects. Take care of your health and try to get along with others. There’s never a dull moment. Remember, a new year is around the corner.
Venus trines Neptune on December 6-7 and it’s too bad it’s such a fleeting transit. Romantic feelings, daydreams, creativity and a flowering imagination. There might be a secret admirer in your life. The Sagittarius planets bode well for your career. You may have a favorable annual review and get a raise or bonus. Help or a favor may come from a woman. You may find employment through a woman or the arts. You could start a new job around the New Moon on December 14. Happy holidays!
