With the Sun in Taurus, there is an emphasis on the earth and all things Taurus. Gardening, landscape design, forestry, hiking, nature and exploring for fossils, rocks and minerals. This is a time for getting your hands in the dirt and connecting with Mother Earth.
Earth Day, April 22 falls in Taurus, an earth sign. Synchronicity. We need to take better care of our planet and honor it. Pick up some trash and clean up the neighborhood. Just a few scraps here and there helps, while taking your daily walk. Buy flowers and vegetables for planting, if you are lucky to have a garden. I love to get my hands in the dirt. I connect with the earth energy, same as when I swim in the ocean and connect with ocean energy. The same thing happens when you go barefoot in the grass or go camping. I forget where I read about this theory, but I realized it is why I feel so good after putting in plants. I used to have a big garden years ago. Now, living in a condo, there is hardly any space of my own to work with. This year, I am thrilled to reclaim a small patch of ground since the landscapers took out a large, diseased holly bush last fall. I already put in an azalea and next, flowers, tomatoes and beans.
From Celestial Navigation, Crystal Lore, July 2019: The crystalline forms of minerals have highly concentrated magnetic energies. Some popular stones (clear, faceted) are clear quartz, smoky quartz, amethyst and citrine. These are silicon minerals. There is also apophyllite, fluorite, calcite, garnet and tourmaline. Other popular non-crystalline silicon minerals are rose quartz, aventurine, agate, jasper, and tiger eye, as well as malachite, azurite and hematite.
When you go to a gem and mineral show, you can feel the amazing energy all over the place. Some of them are calling out to you. Some are more attractive than others. Be careful with certain crystals when you bring them home. Large clusters of quartz and apophyllite, being highly electrical by nature, should not be placed near computers. They can disrupt the electrical function and online connection.
The zodiac signs are each associated with certain stones. Some crystals are helpful for health conditions or different personality types. Here is a website where you can look up crystals. https://crystalearthspirit.com/pages/crystal-meanings. Also, at https://blog.sivanaspirit.com/gs-gn-crystals-astrological/ there are suggestions for the signs, but you should choose the stones that speak to you personally. You may prefer a particular color. I carry some around for different purposes. I have a small clamshell with creativity stones that I keep nearby when I’m doing art work. I have no idea if they really work. I just like them. They are pretty and make me feel good.
Here are some suggestions for stones you might find beneficial.
Quartz (clear). A strong energizer. Increases the power of other stones, also the power of your thoughts and wishes. Use this for meditation and visualization. Works well with all the signs. Smoky quartz (clear brown or taupe color) has a powerful grounding energy. Good for people who have trouble concentrating and need to focus more. Good for meditation. I like this stone.
Amethyst. A strong protective energy. Brings wisdom, patience, intuitive awareness, and can calm you down. Good for meditation. According to ancient tradition, it supposedly helps prevent drunkenness and cures hangovers, although I find moderation and simple common-sense figure strongly into that. A very popular stone which appeals to Aquarius, Pisces and Sagittarius, and Jupiter-ruled people.
Rose quartz. Pink. The stone of love and romance, often given by lovers. Not a powerful stone, but has a gentle, loving, feminine energy. Makes a nice feel-good pocket stone. Increases creativity, ability to express kindness, affection and unconditional love. Helps to heal heart conditions. A stone for Libra and Taurus. Aventurine (green) is also good for the heart.
Hematite. Composed mostly of iron and is a gray metallic color. It is highly magnetic and has a strong grounding energy. This helps people concentrate and focus better. If you carry one in your pocket it strengthens the immune system and prevents colds and flu. A stone for Capricorn and Scorpio. Men like this stone.
Garnet, also popular with Scorpio, who likes brown or yellow topaz as well. Faceted and round like a raspberry, when found in nature. Garnet is good for the heart, creativity, the reproductive organs and sexuality. A deep, dark red, passionate stone. Sometimes green or brown.
Agate, or chalcedony, which comes in many colors. Jasper, tiger eye, sardonyx, blue lace and moss agates. These are feel-good stones that appeal to everyone. Popular and inexpensive. They give energy and a cheerful outlook. Pocket stones and “worry” stones are often agates.
Carnelian. A red or orange polished silicon stone, a variety of agate/chalcedony, popular with the fire signs, especially Aries and Leo. Men are attracted to it. Highly energizing, fiery, gives a little kick to a sluggish personality.
Black onyx, also an agate. A very popular stone with a grounding energy. A lot of jewelry is made with this. The earth signs, especially Capricorn, and water sign Scorpio, like this stone. Obsidian, which is black volcanic glass and also a silicon stone, is very similar in character. A variety of this, snowflake obsidian, is a pretty stone, and there is a lot of it out there.
Pyrite or fool’s gold. A crystalline but metallic stone (iron), a variety similar to hematite. This too has a strong magnetic energy. People are attracted to its beauty. Many believe it attracts money so they keep one on display in their place of business.
Malachite. Bright green, banded, also a money stone. A gorgeous stone. Many people are attracted to it. Has healing properties (all green and blue stones do) and a positive, cheerful energy.
Diamonds, which I include because they are universally popular, also have very strong energizing qualities similar to quartz. Associated with Aries.
Moonstones and pearls, associated with Cancer and Pisces. Moonstones are a variety of feldspar (a common mineral) and pearls, organically produced, come from oysters. They both help to dispel fear and negative feelings. They both have a gentle, passive energy which has a pleasant, soothing, positive effect on the water signs, who have a tendency to get the blues.
