Jupiter is transiting opposite Venus and Pluto, in my own chart. Expansion, creativity, ambitious projects, transformation, chaos and destruction to make way for the new. Sometimes it brings wastefulness, overdoing things, or general excess (food, drink, etc.) Recently I made a pinata for my grandson’s birthday. I love making stuff for my grandchildren, and I’ve been wanting to do a pinata for a while. I made several of them years ago for my own boys. I had forgotten how but I threw myself into the project. For some it can be a real headache. It is messy and labor intensive. This was about 15 hours of work, and you can certainly get one made in Mexico or China, just as colorful and attractive for about $15. This was special, though. Custom-made with a favorite Pokemon character painted on it. I have posted some pictures on my Facebook page.
But in a few days, the kids had their fun and it was smashed to bits! As I was doing the work, the various stages of papier mâché, putting in the candy and painting it, I thought of the lesson of impermanence. There is a wonderful movie called Little Buddha, in which Tibetan monks begin a sand painting at the start of the film. At the end the beautiful art work is destroyed with a swipe of the hand. Impermanence. It is symbolic of all creation. Nothing lasts forever. Pluto represents destruction but also creation and transformation.
I thought I would share the pinata as a good example. Sometimes there are underlying subtle meanings in our activities. We have subconscious reasons for doing things. We have creative urges that must be expressed. Maybe in a past life I was a set designer, sculptor, puppet or doll maker, and maybe I’ll do those things in a future life. I also picked up my flute a year ago and have been practicing so I don’t forget how. Back in high school I used to be very good. (Pluto again: rebirth, resurrection) Maybe next time around I’ll be a star performer. Because of Jupiter in my chart, I’m good at a lot of things. It’s very lucky, perhaps karmic reward, although I do have to concentrate on one thing at a time or I would not be good at anything.
With Jupiter going through Aquarius, he opposes Pluto (in Leo) in all the charts of my generation, those born around 1940-1956. In May Jupiter will be in Pisces briefly and in July Rx back in Aquarius until the end of this year. Aquarius is a sign of originality, imagination and creative genius. We all have a chance this year, in some way, to express ourselves and create something grand!
