The love planet Venus rules Taurus and Libra, and is quite at home there. She is exalted in Pisces. Creativity and the love nature are best expressed in Pisces. Venus is in fall in Virgo, which makes the love nature cool, shy and reserved. But Venus in Virgo also makes kind and sympathetic nurses, caregivers, teachers, helpers, housekeepers and servers. Venus is not really a powerful planet but standards of beauty, romantic expression, creative talent, and the ability to attract lovers and sustain relationships fall under her domain. Venus likes peace and harmony. She is the gentle but driving force behind diplomatic negotiations and settling disputes of all kinds. Money, finance and possessions are also ruled by Venus.
Her effects are subtle and passive, and come out more when operating with the other planets. Examples: Venus with Mars: Very attractive, enthusiastic in love, flirtatious, passionate. Venus with Uranus: Jumps in too fast, falls in love at first sight, attracted to eccentric types. This type may elope. Venus with Neptune: May be shy and fall in love with someone from a distance. Fantasies. Unrequited love. Venus with Pluto: Intense, passionate, seductive, manipulative, uses love to get one’s own way. Death and transformation are somehow involved in love. These are just to name a few. If Venus is in a stellium of 3 or 4 planets, it gets even more interesting.
From May 2020 (edited): I wrote this about stationing Venus during the pandemic. Until now, in summer 2023, she has been seen after dark, like a diamond in the sky. Soon she will disappear for several months then return in the morning before dawn. This is not a favorable time to get a make-over, have your hair done or buy clothes. The results may not turn out well. Avoid shopping online, too, at this time. With Venus Rx there may be disappointments with your order. For many ladies, it may be time to go natural, grow out your silver tresses, and see if you can learn to love the real you. This happened during the pandemic with beauty salons closed. Vanity is not favored with Venus Rx.
Once when Venus was retrograde on top of my natal Venus in Leo, I had poison ivy on my face and neck. I brushed up against a vine and didn’t realize it until too late. I was not beautiful. I looked like an old hag for three weeks. I had to have a sense of humor about it and let it pass. Creativity may also be blocked at this time. But keep writing and drawing just the same and save your ideas. To everything there is a season.
Now Venus is retrograde in Leo, again, and hovering around my natal Venus. I plan to be very careful not to get near poison ivy. Right now my silver tresses are getting pretty long and I could use a trim. I could also let it ride another month. I’ve seen some ladies with very long hair lately. Seems to be the current trend. Also, I’ve seen some very bad chop jobs. On television, many of the actresses and hostesses have long hair chopped in places at random. And “bed head”. It is not attractive. They all look terrible! Ack! Please find a new stylist.
Around September 4 Venus will station direct, so the first three weeks of next month there is a good chance you will meet someone interesting, perhaps the love of your life. Stationing Venus is concentrated energy, especially if your ascendant, 7th house or natal planets are involved. So look around, be friendly, get out more and maybe join a group. Help the universe along a little.
Celestial Almanac: Aquarius Full Moon August 1-2, Leo New Moon August 16. The Perseids meteor shower will peak on August 12-13, with meteors appearing from midnight until dawn. You should have a pretty good show this year with the moon on the wane (decreasing crescent).
The Sun in Leo puts the spotlight on romance and social life. This should be a happy time for you. Go out with friends and enjoy the season. With Venus Rx in Leo some things may not proceed as planned, or go in a different direction. This is not a good transit to get your hair cut or have a make-over, for example. Wait until Venus stations (September 4) to go for the haircut. On August 27 Mars moves into Libra, and relationships will get your attention. Sparks will fly.
Not much change since last month, with Jupiter and Uranus here. But as I’ve told you, Jupiter brings good luck, expansion and opportunities so keep your eyes open. Also a cheerful, optimistic outlook. The Sun in Leo is favorable for the home life. Work on projects and have the family over for a barbecue. Go house hunting. Uranus stations Rx at the end of the month so there could be a surprise or two. The Full Moon on August 1 could be very exciting.
Mercury will station Rx in Virgo, which will affect communications and various other things at home. Mars is still in Virgo as well. High energy. Start planning accordingly. Put some projects on hold. Finish stuff that is sitting on the back burner. Get organized. Clean out the basement. You find something you had lost. Going out, you may be late or have to take a detour. A meeting may be cancelled but this is just not the right time. Go with the flow.
Jupiter in Taurus may bring new friends and opportunities to join group activities. Keep your eyes open. Saturn Rx and Neptune Rx in Pisces may limit travel but another way of looking at it is you may go inward, meditate or study esoteric subjects. You may leave a traditional religious practice and search for something better. Question everything. A period of wandering in the wilderness is sometimes required. Mars in Libra indicates a shift in energies so get ready.
Enjoy all the attention while the Sun is here. Social life, creativity and romance are favored. Read what I said about Aries. Venus Rx makes some things backfire. A new relationship may not work out like you thought. In a long standing marriage you may separate temporarily. This is a good time to go for counseling. At the station in September, reconciliation or a new romance could happen. Jupiter in Taurus is favorable for your career, bringing opportunities and success.
Because of Mars here you have probably been working hard. Pat yourself on the back. You should be physically fit and in good health so it’s all good. Take a break, go on a short vacation. Travel is favored. On the other hand you may be overworked and stressed out, so again, give yourself a break. Mercury stationing here also requires that you change your tack. Communications are affected. Relax and roll with it. Re-group and clean out your files. You find something you lost.
Mars arrives here on August 27, hooray! This isn’t the best place for Mars but it does give you a huge energy boost. Find a new project, something you can sink your teeth into. Creative activities are favored. Drawing, painting, cooking, crafts and making stuff. Start working out more. Your health improves. Go hiking and swimming. You are motivated so get going. If you don’t put the energy to good use, you run the risk of an illness, an accident or losing your temper.
Jupiter and Uranus are in your marriage house. Jupiter could bring financial benefits through your spouse, or some kind of opportunity. Business activities are favored. Uranus stationing at the end of the month could bring the unexpected. A relationship could end and you didn’t see that coming. Or, conversely, you could elope. The Sun and Venus in Leo your career house are favorable for the most part. The Leo New Moon on August 16 brings a fresh start.
The Sun and Venus are in your travel house. This is generally quite favorable for travel, adventure and expanding your world. Venus Rx brings something you didn’t expect. The Sun moving into Virgo on August 23 is good for your career and public life. Meetings and conferences will go well and you make a favorable impression. While Mars is still in Virgo, you are working hard and probably taking charge. A promotion and more responsibility are possible.
The Sun in Virgo is good for travel. While Mars is still here, this is a good influence as well. Plan a vacation on or after August 23. It will also be a good time to start working on a master’s degree or study in a different field. Learn a new language. Jupiter and Uranus continue to make your social life interesting. You are more interested in sports now. When Mars enters Libra on August 27, a different kind of high energy cycle begins. You will concentrate more on your career.
While the Sun is still in Leo, and Venus is stationing, the focus is on marriage or other relationships. Business partnerships are included, and for the most part, it is positive. Harmony, balance, cooperation and trust are important. Diplomatic and legal negotiations are on the table. Read the article above, again, and apply it to your situation. You may be planning for the future with a partner and if you run into a roadblock, be patient. Things will fall into place after Venus stations direct in September.
