As you can see, I’m getting ready to change my format and I plan to take a different approach to astrology. The monthly forecast approach is sometimes too structured and it limits my freedom of expression. I sometimes feel as though I’m pulling it out of my ass. I want my material to be helpful and genuine, and with no disrespect to my forebears intended, not to sound like Jeane Dixon or Sidney Omarr.
We just had a solar eclipse on December 26. It was the New Moon in Capricorn. I had not realized it was coming, since it was invisible in our part of the world. It was visible to those in Southern India, the far east and the Pacific Ocean. Eclipses that don’t occur right over our heads supposedly have little or no influence. However, this one was in close conjunction with Jupiter in Capricorn. The Sun and Moon were in 4° Capricorn, Jupiter in 5° Capricorn. It may have an effect on everyone that will last for the next four months, especially people with strong Capricorn, Sagittarius or Pisces qualities, or a strong Jupiter in the natal chart. Jupiter expands things. Cycles will close, people will leave, relationships will come to an end that have outlived their usefulness, or bad habits may finally be left behind. Whatever happens will be for the good.
The Moon, Sun and Jupiter together is a powerful and fortunate aspect, in a natal chart. Babies born on December 26 may become successful in business or government, strong Capricorn personalities. I have this conjunction in Cancer, plus I have Mars in 0° Capricorn. I can feel the Jupiterian influence. Even though this is sometimes a depressing time of year for me, I feel adventurous, optimistic, confident, and like a new beginning is coming. If people and things are leaving my life then I bless the passing. Thanks for the memories. This is my personal take on it. Everyone else will have a unique experience, hopefully a positive one.

The Saturn Pluto conjunction is exact on January 13-15, joined by the Sun in 22° Capricorn, which could be very interesting. Watch the Full Moon in Cancer on January 10. Something big might happen that affects the country, such as in politics or the coming elections. Heads will roll. The impeachment trial should take place in the Senate as planned. Something may happen in business or social media. The corporate big shots better pay attention. Somebody might get knocked down a peg. I’m not a crystal ball, but we’ll see how it all plays out. Stay tuned.
Right now, Venus is the evening star, shining big and bright at about 5:00-6:00pm in the western sky. Go out and take a look. On December 28-29 the crescent Moon passed by Venus, and as the Moon increases and separates for the first few days in January, you can still see them near each other.

What I described in last month’s forecast will still hold true, especially if you are preoccupied with your career. Aries is driven and ambitious by nature and pursues goals with their heads down. You know, like the Ram. Apply for jobs, work on changes at your company and don’t let anyone stand in your way. But be careful not to step on people. Don’t be ruthless. Bad behavior may come back to bite you on the ass. If you are not on a career track, you may still have these urges in your family life or group activities.
Because of the Capricorn planets, you will probably travel more now, either for business or for adventure. Something is calling to you. Expand your view of the world. Study a new subject, read more. You may take courses in business, real estate or government. Jupiter is giving you a push. While Venus is in Aquarius, you may progress in your career. Women may be of help to you, and loans, favors and opportunities are coming.
Mars enters Sagittarius, your house of relationships, on January 3. This energizes your marriage or pushes you to enter a partnership. You may meet someone new and important. Or, you may revitalize your current relationship. If there are any problems, now is the time to work them out. Have it all out, blow off steam, then kiss and make up. The square of Venus and Neptune to Mars on January 27 may bring some unusual events into your public life, such as seduction or a scandal. Avoid temptation.
The planets in Capricorn will put the focus on marriage, or business partnerships. You may be involved in a joint project or investment now. Don’t let a partner or spouse dominate you. Because of Jupiter there may be a break-up, or a new romance or marital commitment. The grass is greener somewhere else. Your life is changing. At the end of the month Venus and Neptune may bring creative inspiration, a transcendental experience or a chance to travel.
Venus is in Aquarius until January 13. Enjoy some quality time with your partner while you can. Watch the New Moon on January 25. That could be a good day. Make a fresh start. Mercury arrives in Aquarius January 16, which will improve communications at home as well as in business. The planets in Capricorn bring changes at the office or work place, depending on what you do for a living. There are renovations or moving going on, with new managers in charge.
The planets in your house of pleasure and leisure time suggest parties, sports, gambling and children’s activities. This is contrary to the character of Capricorn, but Jupiter here can bring happy times with children. Children may be a big part of your life. Grandchildren may be coming. You may have responsibility over them or other children. Be kind, be wise. You may teach a class or coach a hockey team, for example. Mars in Sagittarius brings more activity at home, such as cleaning, repairs or entertaining the family.
Because of the planets in Capricorn the home will be the major setting for most of the events coming up. Your career and public life may also be affected. Jupiter may bring a change in residence, or you will put on a new addition. You may buy a bigger home or move to a new locale. Babies will arrive. Venus followed by Mercury in Aquarius favors romance, creativity, children’s activities and social get-togethers.
Venus and Mercury improve the home life and relationships with your relatives. Happy times. Romance may be found in your own backyard. Settle grievances with family members you’re having trouble with. Mend fences, so to speak. Go shopping for new art, furniture and things to brighten up your living space. There may be changes in your neighborhood because of the Capricorn planets. Some of you are going back to school.
Mars arrives on January 3. This is a high energy cycle for your sign. Work out more, play sports, and find a good physical project to sink your teeth into. With Mars square to the Venus Neptune conjunction on January 27 there is romance, seduction, temptation, fantasy or the desire to escape into a dream world. This can lead to creative inspiration, so write things down or draw in your sketchbook. It is a brief but pleasant transit. Remember, moderation in all things.
