I finished most of this material last week but keep thinking of stuff to say. I’ve been on a roll. It must be Mars stationing on my Mercury. So I may add more! There will be a total lunar eclipse, in Virgo, visible over North and South America on March 14 (Full Moon, the Crow Moon or Sap Moon). We will have a full view of it, weather permitting. And for this one, no solar glasses necessary. There will be a partial solar eclipse in Aries in the morning of March 29 (New Moon), seen mostly over Canada, Greenland and Russia. We might see a sliver of it at sunrise, I’m not sure. I won’t see it, too many trees in the way on the hill behind my house. There will be another pair of eclipses in September 2025.
This is a painting I did in November 2022. One of the longest total lunar eclipses in recent times. Totality 84 minutes, a Full Blood Moon in Taurus. See Orion in the middle there?
A review of eclipses: Depending on the actual length of time of the lunar eclipse, the effects should last three to four months, according to tradition. The effects of a solar eclipse last three to four years. An eclipse may not affect you personally and for most people it will come and go unnoticed. But traditionally, it brings major cycles to a close. People die, leave or fall from power, especially government leaders, royalty, corporate heads and those of high authority.
If an eclipse occurs on an important point in your chart, such as your Sun, Moon or ascendant, chances are something could happen. A cycle may completely close down in your life. A marriage could end. Someone will die or leave. You may retire. You could change careers. You could move to another state and begin a new life, leaving the old one behind. One door slams shut and a new one opens. Example: My father passed away in 2015 two weeks after a total solar eclipse in Libra, which was his rising sign. Libra is also the sign intercepted in my 8th house, the house of death, loss and inheritance.
During this Lunar Eclipse the Sun will cross over the Saturn Neptune conjunction, opposite the Full Virgo Moon. If you are a Pisces, pay attention. There could be an important event, on a personal level as well as a national one. It could be a change in consciousness or a change in daily life. The way this country is veering out of control, who knows?
Here is the chart from Jackie Slevin, of acclaimed actor Gene Hackman who was just found dead with his wife, two weeks ahead of the March eclipse, but this is not unusual. Ripples in the pond! Thank you Jackie. There is a good Facebook report about Hackman’s life from John Marchesella on Jackie’s stream but I haven’t figured out how to share it.
Venus the evening star is slowing down, but is still extremely bright after sunset. Enjoy it now for soon she will hide until later in the year. She will retrograde during March and the first half of April, in Aries. Then she will appear as the morning star, if you can get up before dawn. She will back up over the Saturn Neptune conjunction for a repeat visit around April 25 – May 4. Because of Mercury Rx (March 15) and Venus Rx (all month) the energies are a little different. With Mercury, put a hold on some projects. You know the drill. Clean closets, sort out files and don’t sign any papers until after April 7. With Venus, creative expression may not come as easily, but don’t worry, the muse will return. During this period, don’t get a haircut, a make-over or other beauty treatments until after April 14. You don’t feel very affectionate during this period, and you may examine relationships more closely or get separated. You may feel less attractive. (I had a bad case of poison ivy once during the Venus Rx and I was hideous!) Be good and kind to yourself.
Mars and Jupiter aren’t in conjunction but you can see them near each other, extremely bright, high in the night sky. Mars is in Cancer, Jupiter is in Gemini. When Jupiter enters Cancer in June, Mars will enter Virgo just a week later. There should be quite a celestial show with the Lunar Eclipse nearby in Virgo, on March 14.
And one other thing about that Saturn Neptune conjunction, which I don’t consider to be a difficult transit. Some greater good can come of it, mostly of a spiritual growth and inspirational nature. But here is a heads-up, folks. My credit card was hacked recently, and at the same time somebody pretending to be me tried to move money from my account. Two hits at the same time, from different directions, probably from the same troll. The bank took care of me, I got a new card and everything is fine now. The conjunction was just coming into orb that day, exactly on the cusp of my money house (2nd). Neptune can be kind of sneaky, depending on your chart. So be careful. Closely guard your personal information. Not everybody is who they say they are. The trolls are out there and they are getting smarter.
Celestial Almanac: Virgo Full Moon (total lunar eclipse) March 14, Aries New Moon (partial solar eclipse) March 29.
In general, the Spring Equinox on March 20 is highly favorable for you. A new beginning, a new season. You can start a project, go on a diet or begin a new workout routine. The Sun is shining on you and this is good for your career. New friends and professional connections are coming down the pike. Because of Venus and Mercury, romance is favored. On March 30 Neptune will enter your sign, bringing a period of inspiration and spiritual change.
Uranus here is slow but direct, and that is a good thing. New ideas, technology, big business, land development and real estate. Events and changes come unexpectedly, but for a good reason. An opportunity to invest or buy property may suddenly fall in your lap. Or a financial windfall. Watch the eclipse in Virgo on March 14. It may go unnoticed or it will bring a whirlwind romance, a reversal of fortune or a change in circumstances which is for the best.
While the Sun is going through Pisces the first half of the month, the focus is mainly on your career and public life. Generally things look good. If you have been working hard on something, it will pay off. It depends on your situation. The Lunar Eclipse may bring an important change or event. Your job may come to an end and something else is coming up for you. A higher-up may leave and there will be an opening for you to move up. You never know!
Mars is cruising along nicely here and during the second half of the month will trine the Sun, Saturn and Neptune. This is a very nice, positive influence. Travel, adventure, education and personal discovery are favored this month. A vacation may be coming up. Various projects and activities will bring you great satisfaction. Accept all opportunities. The Spring Equinox on March 20 will benefit your career. A good annual review, a raise, a job offer or a new project.
The Spring Equinox brings travel and adventure. Then the New Moon on March 29 more of the same. A new beginning. Make a wish. This is a good time to go back to school or study a different subject. A sabbatical abroad would be exciting and fulfilling. Whatever you are doing, there will be a change of direction, something much more interesting and exciting. Romance is favored and you will meet new people. You may meet an exotic foreigner while traveling.
Read about the eclipse above. Virgos and Pisces will be the most likely to experience something. A closure, and ending of a chapter, not necessarily good or bad, just something that is over. Sit loose in the saddle of fate and try not to worry. If you lose your job, it means its time has come and you will move on to something new, or retire. Look to the future and think positive. If a friend or partner leaves your life, do not grieve but wish him well!
The Spring Equinox on March 29 is positive for relationships of all kinds. Marriage and business partnerships will flourish. This is a good time to get engaged or get married. Venus Rx and Mercury Rx are also with the Sun in Aries. Read about the retrograde planets above. Romance, affection and communications are favored. Mars in Cancer is a high energy influence but if you handle it properly and keep busy all will be well. This is good for your work and career.
Uranus is moving direct in your marriage house, unfettered, and chances are nothing will come of it. But if something happens and bites you in the behind, well, that’s Uranus. Mars in Cancer brings an opportunity to travel or at least a strong desire to go. The Sun, Saturn and Neptune together in Pisces may bring a romance or exciting social events, and the lunar eclipse on March 14 could prove to be interesting. Remember that it may bring the closing of a cycle.
The Pisces planets influence activities or changes at home. The lunar eclipse may affect by polarity both the home fires and your career and public life. Nothing may happen or someone may move out. Or your job will come to an end. You may get promoted or find a wonderful opportunity somewhere else. It’s not necessarily bad, you know. Read about Gemini. One person may become an empty-nester, the next one will have an event at his company.
Mars is moving along nicely in your marriage house. You are getting along well and there are probably some romantic sparks. I always say the kissing and making up is worth it. Because of the Spring Equinox in Aries you are probably doing spring cleaning and redecorating at home. It is a positive and hopeful period. The lunar eclipse takes place in your travel house. You may hear some news from afar about a change or a death in the family.
Not much going on here this month. Pluto in your sign may not be felt most of the time. Loved ones may depart. Over the next several years there will be transformation and permanent change. Your attitude about certain things will change. Your appearance, interests and beliefs will change. You probably won’t notice at first. It may be happening below the surface. But it’s all for the best. If change didn’t happen life would be boring.
An example of Pluto: When Pluto first entered Capricorn in 2008 it was conjunct my sister’s Sun and opposite my Cancer Sun. Our mother and younger sister passed away six months apart in 2009. My Capricorn sister lost three close friends to cancer early that year. I lost my job and my career in graphics came to a close. No jobs. I sailed into the sunset. Permanent loss, change and transformation, there you go. Aquarius folks, these changes are coming to you in the next few years, so roll with the punches.
The Sun here the first half of the month puts you in the spotlight. You are the center of attention. Friends are calling you. Go out and have some fun. When the Sun crosses Saturn and Neptune you may have interesting experiences. You may be more creative and learn some new things. The Virgo Full Moon and eclipse will be important, as well as a beautiful sight to see on March 14. Someone close to you may leave, or a chapter of life may come to an end. It might even be a relief for some of you.
This is a painting of a total lunar eclipse in January 2019. A Full Blood Moon occurred around midnight, on one of the coldest nights of the year, and I went out to see it. Froze my tushie off but it was worth it, a beautiful show.
