On a lighter note this month, let’s talk about Halloween, probably my favorite holiday besides Christmas. I enjoy my candy corn, putting out pumpkins and some kind of costume get-up. The Sun conjuncts my Saturn and trines my Cancer planets. It is a feel-good transit. In past years, I’ve had exciting romances at Halloween. There is something dark, sexy and mysterious in the air. I get better answers with dream interpretation, astrology and tarot at this time. I commune with the spirits. This year the Sun, Venus and Mercury will be together in Scorpio. It is a nice influence. Here is a brief recap of Halloween history.
When we enter the sign of Scorpio (October 23) and the season of the witch, spells, enchantments and psychic abilities have much more power. From October 2016: In ancient times in northern Europe, Samhain (Gaelic- “summer’s end”), as Halloween used to be called, was observed at this time of year by the Celts, Druids and Wiccans. The dead came out to wander through the land and communication with departed loved ones was easier at this time. Ancestors were honored. This was the time for séances, fortune telling, divination and conjuring. People dressed up as ghosts or in other costumes, pulled pranks on their neighbors and built bonfires. Fairies and elves were out and about, also pulling pranks. Trick-or-treat evolved among children going door-to-door. Turnips were carved out with faces to ward off evil spirits, which evolved in the 1800’s into the pumpkin Jack-O-Lantern.
A follow-up to last month’s comment about confrontations. I have had a hard time trying to conjure up understanding and compassion. In time, I will. The Saturn Uranus square is making itself felt in all sorts of ways. I never noticed a transit in such a personal way as this one. Not in a long while. Once many years ago I wanted to put sugar in someone’s gas tank. I was mad and I had the worst feelings. But I could hear my little voice saying, it won’t change anything. So of course I didn’t do it. I moved on. I am much older now and have seen a lot of things. I have evolved. But I won’t let it go to my head. I can’t expect everyone else to understand my point of view. My experiences now are mostly lessons in review. The future hasn’t been written yet.
What you say, do, write or think, has power. Especially around Halloween. We often don’t realize what we are doing. Edgar Cayce once said, thoughts have wings. Be careful what you think or wish on someone else. It will come back and bite you in the ass. Everyone has free will. (This is also my horoscope disclaimer.) You can’t make a person do something against their will. You also can’t stop someone from doing what they want. They must face the consequences of their own actions.

While the Sun and Venus are still in Libra until October 23, you can work on your marriage. Do things together. Go away on a romantic weekend. It is a nice time for engaged couples. Weddings can be planned now. It is a good influence for working out problems and going to counseling. All business partnerships, contracts and projects are favored. Mercury in Libra on October 10-29, just going direct, is good for business and communications.
Saturn Rx is in 18 Aquarius, stationing direct October 23, square Uranus Rx in Taurus. With Saturn just sitting there all month (stationing), whatever problems you are having may not be resolved for a while. Figure out alternative ways to cope. You are learning something, having a growth experience, but may not realize it until you look behind you later. If something gets in your way, go around it. Find something entertaining to do to get your mind off things. This too shall pass. Romance is favored at Halloween.
Read about Pisces. Mars in Gemini, a high energy cycle, is a positive influence or it can be trouble, depending on your own nature. Your health may be affected and you may have a fever or an injury. You can work hard but know your limits. Be careful. Take your time doing things. Eat right and get plenty of rest. Take breaks. It could still be a positive and productive period. While the Sun is in Libra, social life is favored. There will be happy times with children.
The Sun, Venus and Mercury in Libra are very good for life at home and family relationships. This house is most important to Cancers. Have people over. Cook a lot, try out recipes. Decorate a little and get into the holiday spirit. When these three planets move into Scorpio at month’s end, social life and romance are favored. Things will really pick up. Maybe you will connect with an old friend. There could be a Halloween party in your future.
Read about the other fixed signs, Taurus, Scorpio and Aquarius. A lot of people are struggling with the Saturn Uranus square. It’s possible that by now you have adjusted to things and have a system of survival tactics in place. One day at a time. Try to endure, try not to take on too much responsibility. Watch your health. When the planets move into Scorpio, home life is favored. At the Scorpio New Moon October 25 a new cycle begins. Make a wish and focus.
Read about Gemini. Mars is in your career house for several months. You might be ambitious and make aggressive moves towards advancement at work. No matter what the plan is, you are working hard. You might also have issues with higher-ups or competition. Stick to your guns. Do the work, be honest and don’t take short-cuts. You will get promoted on your own merit, don’t worry. Because of the Saturn Uranus square I don’t recommend traveling right now.
Mercury stations direct in Virgo on October 1, then arrives here on October 10-29. Venus is here until October 23. These are lovely influences. Communications are going well. You can make plans and sign contracts. You look prettier than usual, friends and sweethearts are calling and life is rosy. Mars in Gemini is favorable for traveling. You definitely have the itch to get on a plane and have an adventure. I know a birthday girl who is taking a cruise. It’s a beautiful thing.
Read about Taurus. Home life and relationships are affected by the Saturn Uranus square. Married people are either having trouble in paradise or they have personal issues, such as mental problems or physical disability. It’s different for everyone. Unpleasant surprises can pop up. Be prepared and keep your eyes open. At the Scorpio New Moon on October 25 make a wish. It’s kind of a jumpstart. You can change things or turn over a new leaf if you just try.
Mars is slowing down to station in Gemini Rx, at Halloween. Mars influences your marriage house for the next several months. Sparks will fly. If you are fighting, have it out and clear the air. Making up could be exciting. It might be a very passionate period, or it could be frustrating. Business partnerships are also affected. You might have differences with a colleague or partner and go your separate ways unless you work things out.
Pluto stations direct on October 9. The influence is very subtle, below the surface. From now until New Year’s Eve, it will be a highly concentrated energy, so plan on permanent changes coming. The planets in Libra are favorable for your career. Meetings and interviews go well. Apply for a job or go in a new professional direction. Women will help you, and it could be something in the arts, fashion, social media or entertainment.
The square between Saturn and Uranus causes problems. Read about Taurus. There might be an illness or injury that will keep you in for a while. Depression and loneliness. You may get hurt in relationships. (Watch out for Scorpio.) Saturn stationing (going direct) makes things drag on for a while. You just have to tough it out. Mars in Gemini is good for your social life, and maybe a romance. The planets in Libra are also helpful. A chance to travel may come along. Try to cheer up.
Jupiter Rx moves in for a couple of days. Although brief, it could be a helpful influence. Mars is in Gemini, your house of family and the home fires, for several months. It might not too difficult but there may be trouble ahead. Arguments, confrontations, or a falling out with a relative. There may be an accident at home or weather damage. A tree could fall on your roof. Anything could happen. Practice patience and detachment in relationships. Have it out if you must but try to come to an agreement. Find a practical way to use the strong Mars energy. Build or repair something. Get plenty of exercise and take care of your health.
